European Crustacean Fisheries Metadatabase

Availability: Restricted
The data are withheld from general circulation and disclosure but access may be obtained on a case-by-case basis through negotiation

Notes: Release with permission of the appropriate parties

Description
Metadata on exploited marine crustaceans in Europe is held in many different institutes in different formats (databases, spreadsheets, internal reports and published scientific papers). This database provides a facility to store metadata relating to these many sources of information. The ECFM web site allows registered users to enter data held at their specific institute and allows public access to the data in the database. The database is maintained under the EDFAM project. The metadata in the database is summary data derived from raw data, contact details for raw data and information on management of fisheries and fisheries statistics. The metadata is divided into a number of themes, described below, relating to the biology and fisheries for crustaceans in Europe. more

The data themes have been classified into 2 types:
Laboratory based data: species data, which are not necessarily time or location specific e.g. a physiological rate process defined for a species

Location specific data: parameters that were defined at a specific location and time e.g. fishing control measures
