Abstract
The economical and social environment are changing ever so rapidly, creating a growing need for learning to be (a) permanently accessible, (b) as personalised as possible and (c) available in many forms and media. The FLEX project aims to solve this problem by developing and testing a flexible, cost-effective ODL (Open and Distance Learning) environment . The idea behind FLEX is comprised in splitting up learning content in flexible, self-sustaining learning blocks integrating learning content, learning facilities, learning process registration (logging) and openness for feedback and remote control of the learning activity in these blocks. The main objective of the project is to develop the FLEX standards in which learning blocks and a methodology for splitting up learning content into learning blocks as well as recommendations and interfaces on the platform to be used are specified.
