Abstract
During one year (1977), the number and size frequency distribution of the common shrimps (Crangon Crangon L.) on the tidal flat of 50 km² in the Dutch Wadden Sea have been investigated. The tidal flat was found to be a transit station were metamorphosed shrimps settle and grow extremly fast until they have reached a mean length of 20 to 25 mm. Environmental factors on the tidal flats seem to be rather favourable for the enormous numbers of shrimps found here.
