Description A common tintinnid ciliate in Mediterranean. It is about 150 microns long. Like other tintiinids, the ciliate cell which resembles an oligotrich ciliate is inside a shell or lorica. Tintinnids feed on phytoplankton, microscopic algae and in turn serve as food for larger plankton organisms such as copepods and fish larvae.Author Dolan, JohnJPG file - 1.09 MB - 1 700 x 1 700 pixelsadded on 2006-02-172 231 viewsERMS taxaAmphorides quadrilineata (Claparède & Lachmann, 1858)checked Dolan, John 2013-03-15 This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 4.0 License
