Etymology The generic name Podarkeopsis is composed by the name of the genus Podarke Ehlers, 1864, followed by the suffix of Greek origin -opsis, denoting 'having a likeness or similarity with, or resembling the specified organism or structure', and refers to the similarity of the new genus with Podarke: "[...] je place cet Hesionidae [Podarkeopsis galangaui] dans un cadre générique nouveau, certainement proche du genre Podarke Ehlers, 1864. Pour cette raison, je propose de nommer ce genre Podarkeopsis" (Laubier, 1961: 211). [details]
