redescription
Tovar-Hernández, María Ana and Sosa-Rodríguez, Teresa 2006. Redescription of Chone infundibuliformis Kroyer, 1856 (Polychaeta: Sabellidae) and histology of the branchial crown appendages, collar and glandular ridge. Zootaxa 1115: 31-59. page(s): 36 [details]
From editor or global species database
Nomenclature According to Augener (1912) Chone infundibuliformis Krøyer, 1856 is the same as Sabella rubripunctata Grube, 1846, a new name Grube created for Rathke's (1843) sabellid specimen (examined by Augener) misidentified by Rathke as Amphitrite volutacornis of Montagu. Thus, if implemented the name Chone rubripunctata (Grube, 1846) would replace Chone infundibulifomis. This scenario needs further evaluation [G Read, January 2021] [details]Unreviewed

Habitat bathyal, infralittoral and circalittoral of the Gulf and estuary [details]
