Abstract
The Entoprocta is a small phylum of rather inconspicuous animals. The two genera of colony-forming species, Barentsia and Pedicellina, are most frequently reported in faunistic surveys, both are common on seaweeds, hydroids, live or dead mollusc shells, some crab species, and on bryozoans. The non-colonial forms are strictly commensal and are only discovered by careful examination of likely hosts, which include sponges, polychaetes, sipunculans and some echinoderms.

There is a limited literature. All European species were described and figured by Nielsen (1989), and no new species, or newly recorded species, have been described subsequently.
