Abstract
This study is the fifth component of the ‘Research on the environmental effects of the SIGMA plan: Effects of dredgings and harbour expansion on the environment’
The primary production is an obligate parameter in the OMES project monitoring campaigns, because there is still no direct relation between the abundance of phytoplankton and the primary production: difficulties establishing such a relation are caused by for example the influence of the health state of phytoplankton on the PP.
The primary production is determined by the light climate which is strongly influenced by suspended matter. The final report of this fifth component therefore discusses the results in relation to the results of the third and fourth study. Because the light climate changes with increasing depth in the water column, primary production is expressed as a function of the depth and integration of primary production according to daily time- intervals is estimated.
