Abstract
This report contains selected papers presented at the Conference on Coastal Systems Studies and Sustainable Development (UNESCO, Paris, 21-25 May 1991). During the conference, emphasis was placed on the regional and interregional aspects of the intergrated coastal zone studies and scientific basis of management practices. In addition to two keynote addresses, over 30 selected presentations as well as poster presentations were made. The conference adopted recommendations for further studies necesaary at global, regional and local levels for a better understanding of the functioningof coastal systems (see also UNESCO Technical Papers in Marine Science No. 63, 1991).
