Abstract
A Steering Committee meeting of POEM was held in Paris, 12-13 January, 1988, at Unesco Headquarters. The main objectives of the meeting were: (1) to review the status of the POEM field work and modelling efforts; (2) to establish the policy of data management and exchange; (3) to finalize the agenda of the Second POEM Workshop to be held in Trieste, Italy, 31 May to 4 June, 1988, with the focus upon the pooling of the POEM data into a common data base; (4) to establish the future directions of POEM. It was decided to hold a two-week workshop in Modena, Italy, at the IMGA Institute of the Italian National Research Council as a preparation of POEM Phase I and the beginning of Phase II focussed upon data analysis and modelling.
