Abstract
This report presents the results of the Second Scientific POEM Workshop held in Trieste, Italy at the Osservatorio Geofisico Sperimentale (OGS), 31 May-4 June 1988. A collective data set was produced containing 23 data sets contributed from Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Turkey, the United States and Yugoslavia. Series of informal presentations were given with the discussion of the most recent analyses of POEM data sets: general hydrographic surveys and time series of current measurements in the Italian and Greek Straits. Considerable progress resulting from the modelling effort was evident in both the modelling of the general circulation and energetic mesoscale eddy field.
