Abstract
    The second session of the IODE Steering Group for Global Ocean Surface Underway Data (formerlyUnderway Sea Surface Salinity Data) Pilot Project was held at the Marine Environmental DataService (MEDS), Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Ottawa, Canada from 16-17 September 2002.During its Second Session the Steering Group reviewed the draft project plan. The three WorkingGroups - (i) Products, (ii) Transfer, processing and archiving and (iii) Data Collection - outlined theirinput to the project. The draft working group reports will be completed by March 2003 and presentedat IODE-XVII. Two mailing lists for the project have been established to provide improvedcommunication within the Group.
