Abstract
The ODIMeX project aims to create an Intergrated Expert and Training System for Oceanographic Data and Information Management, using the existing Ocean Teacher systems as a basis. For its first meeting the editorial and planning group met at the Univerisy of the Western Cape, Belllville, South Africa. The invited experts discussed requirements for the software platform, editorial issues and planned the structure to be used by digital library part of the system. Based on these requirements, the group was able to come to an agreement with developers from the Univeristy of the Western Cape Information and Communication Services section to use the Kewl.NextGen e Learning software as the basis for the ODIMeX system. The group also laid out responsibilities for the various editorial roles, and agreed a workplan and budget for the production of content and the corresponding technical system.
