Abstract
Research on macrobenthos in the dumping area for TiO2 waste acid has been continued in 1981. Sixteen stations have been sampled; on 13 stations 5 samples have been collected at each station, while on 3 stations 25 samples have been collected. About 90 different species have been found; there are some indications that a shift has taken place in the macrobenthic fauna: 24 new species were found, whereas 23 species present in the samples taken in 1980, were absent in 1981. It cannot be excluded, however, that this difference is due to an inadequate number of samples, the distribution of the macrobenthos species is very patchy. In 1981 the density of a large number of species was significantly lower than in 1980; however the density of Spio Filicornis was significantly higher.
