Nitrite and nitrate concentrations were studied in the Southern Bight in February and August 1968. In February nitrate seems to behave as a conservative property and relative contributions of Scheldt and Rhine/Maas water to the freshwater part of the Dutch coastal water were calculated. A rough estimate of nitrate consumption in August was calculated.
