Abstract
In May 1973 water samples were collected, at the surface as well as near the bottom in the North Sea between Den Helder and northern Denmark. The content of Cu, Zn,Mn and Fe was determined in solution and adsorbed to the suspended matter. Material derived from the Dutch coast and thus, presumably from the the Rhine could be distinguished from material derived from the Elbe: suspended matter from the Rhine and the seawater mixed predominantly with Rhine water, were found to have a higher content of Cu and Zn, and a lower content of Mn, in comparison with suspended matter and water from the Elbe.
