Abstract
At JCOMM-I (2011) it was decided that the former WMO-IOC GTSPP Programme would become part of JCOMM. As such the Steering Group is now called the IODE-JCOMM Steering Group for the GTSPP. The First Session of the Joint IODE-JCOMM Steering Group for the Temperature-Salinity Profile Programme (GTSPP) was held at the IODE project office for IODE in Oostende, Belgium, 16 - 20 April 2012. The meeting was attended by nine (9) participants in Oostende, while five (5) participated by Webex and 19 were able to view the meeting by Livestream. The objectives of the meeting were to: (i) review GTSPP data flow and operations; (ii) report on the status of the XBT BAHY to BUFR migration; (iii) revive the GTSPP infrastructure, the terms of reference and composition of the Steering Group of GTSPP; (iv) develop a strategic frame work of the next generation of the GTSPP netCDF format revision; (v) report on interaction with other projects; and (vi) adopt the work plan for 2012-2013.The document summarizes meeting discussion points, presentations given by both local participants in Ostend and remote participants via Webex and the GTSPP Steering group's response to the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center proposed changes in the GTSPP Continuously Managed Database support. The GTSPP work plan for 2012-2013 is shown in Annex III of the meeting report. The participants planned for the next meeting to be held in the first quarter of 2014.
