Abstract
At JCOMM-I (2001) it was decided that the former WMO-IOC GTSPP Programme would become part of JCOMM. As such the Steering Group is now called the IODE-JCOMM Steering Group for the GTSPP. The Second Session of the Joint IODE-JCOMM Steering Group for the Temperature-Salinity Profile Programme (GTSPP) was held at the IODE project office for IODE in Oostende, Belgium, 17-20 June 2014. The meeting was attended by nine (9) participants in Ostend, while four (4) participated by Webex. The objectives of the meeting were to: (i) Review of GTSPP inter-sessional (2012-2013) activities. (ii) Collaborate toward standardization of quality control procedures within GTSPP, (iii) Review the existing GTSPP data formats for improvements. iv) Review the GTSPP training materials prepared for the IODE Ocean Teacher Global Academy, (v) Explore connections with other programs such as GOSUD, IQuOD, OceanSITES, and WOD, and (vi) Refine the GTSPP future directions. The document summarizes meeting discussion points, presentations given by both local participants in Ostend and remote participants via WEBEX. The GTSPP work plan for 2014-2017 is shown in Annex III of the meeting report. The participants planned for the next meeting to be held in the second quarter of 2016.
