Abstract
The waters surrounding the island of Ireland are home to a wide variety of cetacean (i.e. whale
and dolphin) and seabird species. This report presents detailed findings from research
conducted under the auspices of the Petroleum Infrastructure Programme set up by Ireland’s
then Department of the Marine and Natural Resources in 1997. The Cetaceans & Seabirds at Sea
research programme, which commenced in 1999, has now been completed and the findings are
presented in three volumes under the title “Cetaceans and Seabirds of Ireland’s Atlantic
    Margin”.
